Hereford FC’s Commercial Director, George Webb, has looked back at last Tuesday’s FA Youth Cup tie at Edgar Street and praised the efforts of the young players on display.
The 2nd Qualifying Round game against Bromsgrove Sporting – which was watched by a crowd of around 150 – finished 8-1 to the young Bulls, with first team squad member Rory Huntbatch netting a first half hat-trick.
Reflecting on the match, Webb commented:
‘I thought the young team were extremely impressive, with a number of excellent performances in all areas. Rory was terrific in the first half, but there was plenty of talent on show all over the pitch.
‘It was also very pleasing to see such a good crowd turn up for the game and we are very pleased to be able to host matches like this at Edgar Street. We are very much hoping to host further games if the U18s can progress further in the FA Youth Cup and it’s really nice that the club, Hereford United Supporters Trust (HUST) and United In The Community (UITC) can come together to host a game like this.
‘Everyone at the club knows how important it is for young players in Hereford to have a player pathway to follow, and credit is due to the officials behind the scenes and all the coaches at UITC for the work they are doing.
‘Everyone at Hereford FC remains keen for the club and UITC to work more closely together, but our priority – especially in the immediate short-term – does have to be the first team, with the aim of moving up the non-league pyramid as quickly as possible.
‘We do, however, appreciate that Liam Brewer, Jamie Pitman, Adam Jones, Laura Davies and all the other age group coaches really are proving their worth with UITC right now, and we are very much looking forward to seeing things continue to progress well into the future.’
It has been confirmed that the young Bulls have been drawn at home to Newcastle Town in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup and that the game will be played in the week commencing 17th October.
When a date is finalised for this fixture, please do make the effort to come and support the young players – they certainly deserve all the support Bulls fans can offer them.
