EXCITING VOLUNTARY OPPORTUNITIES WITH HEREFORD FC MEDIA TEAM
As part of the Hereford FC drive to improve services to supporters, we now have two exciting opportunities for volunteers to join our award winning media team. This will involve work on match-day but also time assisting with pre-match preparations during the week.
The successful candidates will have an opportunity to work behind the scenes at Hereford FC and, by so doing, be part of a team aiming to make the club as professional as possible.
These roles will provide great experience for anyone thinking of a career in the media. The work will include assisting with production of our award winning match day programme now enlarged to 64 pages for the coming season, and also contributing to the maintenance of the official club website that has attracted almost 5,000,000 page views over the past 12 months.
The two specific roles are;
1 | PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
This will be a great opportunity for the chosen candidate to improve his or her journalistic skills on a regular basis by helping to collate statistics, transcribe interviews and compile profiles of visiting teams for the matchday programme. Experience of using InDesign would be advantageous, but not essential.
The successful candidate must be both reliable and successful at working under the pressure of meeting tight deadlines as well as being willing to use their initiative. Also essential is a good grasp of grammar, punctuation and a sharp eye for detail.
This is principally a home-based role that will involve at least 3 hours work for each programme, although matchday work could be involved if desired.
2 | WEBSITE ASSISTANT
Hereford FC are also looking to appoint a volunteer to help update the official Hereford FC website on a regular basis. Tasks will include writing regular match previews and news articles, as well as keeping player and team statistics up to date.
Again, applicants should be computer literate, reliable, used to working to tight deadlines, use their initiative, with a good grasp of grammar and punctuation and a sharp eye for detail.
The successful candidate will have experience of using WordPress or similar web-based content management systems as well as considerable experience of using social media platforms.
The role, which is likely to be a mix of home-based work and match day involvement will involve at least 4 hours each week.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply for either volunteer role, applicants are asked to write a 350 word interview article, based on any video interview recently posted on the official Hereford FC YouTube channel, and email it along with details of the specific role that is being applied for to [email protected]
Applicants are also asked to include their CV along with any examples of previous work.
The closing date for applications is 4pm Friday 19th August.
