With a large number of the Academy coaches on a course to work towards the UEFA B qualification, only the Under 13 side – led by the UEFA B qualified Ben Archer – were in Junior Premier League action on Saturday morning.
Zach Johnston scored twice as the side maintained their unbeaten League record in beating Kidderminster 2-1. Their last league fixture before Christmas is next weekend, with Evesham United the visitors, one of four JPL matches involving Academy sides next Saturday.
The Womens team were the only other side in action this weekend, taking on last week’s opponents Wyre Forest Phoenix in the reverse Midwest Counties Female Football League fixture on Sunday.
After last week’s 3-3 draw, the two sides again drew a stalemate. The visitors took the lead when good work from Roxana Dinescu on the left saw a driven cross deflected into the net. The hosts drew level just after half time and then took the lead midway through the second half.
Dinescu and Jess Kenny both missed good chances after the pair had helped each other into good positions in different moves, but it was debutant Bethany Cole who popped up at the far post in the final minutes to prod home a loose ball and earn a deserved point.
Their final fixture before the Christmas break is next Sunday when they make the short trip to Bartestree in the League Cup.
