Bulls Chairman: ‘A Busy Time But Academy Plans Are Still Progressing’

06th December 2017 by Chris Ammonds - Club News

Hereford FC Chairman, Ken Kinnersley, has today explained that although the interest in the club’s FA Cup exploits and the forthcoming Second Round replay with Fleetwood is making it a very busy time at Edgar Street, work is continuing to finalise plans to formally take on the Under 12 to Under 18 age group teams from the start of 2018.

He has reassured the young players and their families that they are not being forgotten and as soon as opportunity allows, a meeting will take place to discuss what everyone hopes will be an exciting future for the club’s newly formed academy.

‘With three home games set to take place in the next 10 days, including our mouth-watering, televised replay with Fleetwood which is likely to be a complete sell-out, it’s fair to say that there is a huge amount going on here currently.

‘Tickets sales are going well and I’d like to thank everyone who is and will be making ticket sales possible over the next few days. Our fantastic volunteers and small team of committed staff will once again be going above and beyond the call of duty in the next couple of weeks and I’d like to thank them all for their efforts.

‘While we have lots going on relating to our first team, I’d just like to offer reassurance to current UITC players and their families that they are not being forgotten and that we have not stopped working on our plans to develop our own academy.

‘We have already held meetings and we will be looking to recruit coaches. As soon as a suitable date can be found to meet with the young players and their parents we will make an announcement. The home games we have coming up and the fact that we are hosting several Christmas Parties at the club means that finding a date is not proving particularly straightforward, but we are committed to getting one in place.

‘In the meantime, work is continuing to put a structure in place for the start of the New Year when the teams will come under the direct control of Hereford FC. We will confirm the planned structure at the forthcoming meetings, but I would like to ask players and parents for additional patience as we get the arrangements in place.

‘However, no-one should be in any doubt that we will have everything ready for the academy teams when the second half of their season arrives in mid-January and that we will not allow anything to impact on the enjoyment the youngsters get from their football.’
