Hereford started off 2018 in winning ways, running out winners by 5 goals to 2. Redditch opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 8th minute when former Bull Stuart Fleetwood was adjudged to have been brought down by Jack Deaman. Another former Bull Ashley Sammons placed the ball accurately into the corner with Horsell a fingertip away from saving the spot kick. Less than 10 minutes later the Bulls were back on equal terms with Pablo Haysham going over in the box in a similar fashion, John Mills converting the penalty. Haysham then made it 2 – 1 with a scorching left footer from outside the box, only for Redditch to equalise through Fleetwood a few minutes later after intercepting a Dan Preston pass.
Redditch then gifted Hereford a goal with Redditch’s Orrin Pendley needlessly cutting out a shot going wide only for Lance Smith to be on the spot to drill home to make it 3-2. In the 37th minute Haysham lined up a shot inside the box going across the keepers line and whacking the ball in off the post. 4-2 at half time and although there were chances for both sides to add to their tally surprisingly Hereford only notched up one further goal in the second half. In the last few minutes of the game Garyn Preen who had been lively all match, drilled a shot across the box only for the ball to cannon off the post and fall right in front of John Mills who tapped the ball over the line.
Hereford remain in fourth place in the Southern Premier League 5 points off top spot but with 4 games in hand on Kettering Kings Lynn and Weymouth.
