INTERVIEW | Richards Looks Ahead to Alfreton Trip

15th March 2019 by Jamie Griffiths - Club News

We caught up with Head Coach Marc Richards ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Alfreton.

The Bulls will go into the game on the back of a 4-2 win over Darlington at Edgar Street last weekend. “We’re really looking forward to the game tomorrow,” Richards told the official website. “The players have trained really well this week and there’s a good spirit amongst them.

“After last weekend’s win we’re all buzzing to be back in action tomorrow.”

It took a second-half master-class from The Bulls to turn a 2-0 half-time deficit into a 4-2 win last weekend, and Richards says that the aim for the players is to produce a similar performance, but over the whole 90 minutes.

“We keep talking about performance levels, with the focus being on making sure we are reaching the right levels each week. The second half on Saturday was terrific from the lads, now we need to try and put that performance in over the whole 90minutes.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game, Richards says that the players have prepared properly, as they always do.

“We’ve looked at how Alfreton play, we know their threats and we know that they will give us a real game. We know what to expect from them.

“They like to play direct and so we will have to be strong and remain focussed. We need to try and stick to our game plan and not get drawn into playing directly.”

“Alfreton have beaten a lot of teams around us, so we know that they are a capable side. They’re on a decent run and beat Chorley last month. Having said that, we’re on a decent run ourselves so we will travel to Alfreton encouraged by our recent results.”

Richards was impressed by the amount of shots The Bulls recorded during last weekend’s win. “We got in 19 shots last weekend which was really pleasing, and that’s what I want a repeat of. We need to keep creating those opportunities.”

The Hereford Head Coach also spoke about the signing of Jak Hickman on a month-long loan deal from Coventry City.

“We’ve known Jak for a little while, he came along and trained when we first looked at Kyle Finn, and we’ve kept an eye on him ever since. Myself and Tim went to see him play for Coventry City U23s so we know what he can bring to the squad.

“Jak has got a decent delivery on him, he’s energetic and is a confident player with a lot of tenacity. I’m really looking forward to him being involved.”
