FULL TIME | Curzon Ashton 0-1 Hereford

11th August 2018 by Jamie Griffiths - Match Live

An 80th minute strike from Harry White secured another three points for The Bulls who now have seven on the board following the 1-0 win at Curzon Ashton.

It was The Bulls who had the first opportunity of the game, with Lance Smith seeing a prodded effort deflected behind for a corner inside the opening 10 minutes.

Bulls skipper, Jordan Liburd, who received an early booking for a late challenge was the Hereford hero moments later, sliding in to block a goal-bound effort from the home side.

Greenslade was the next player to have an opportunity to break the deadlock, but his effort was saved comfortably by the home ‘keeper.

Twenty-minutes in and The Bulls looked to profit from a mad scramble inside the home side’s penalty area, but neither Smith or McGrath could fire away a shot.

White saw a back post header fly wide of the mark, but it was the home side who found the back of the net first. Brooke beating Horsell with a low shot through the Hereford ‘keepers legs. Thankfully for The Bulls Brooke was adjudged to be in an offside position, and the goal didn’t stand.

Hall had one final chance for The Bulls before the break, but his effort was saved neatly by the outrushing ‘keeper.

As thoughts moved to the halftime break, the home side almost snatched the lead, seeing a shot from the edge of the box smash against the crossbar.

Lance Smith saw a great chance in the opening moments of the second half go begging after good play from Thomas on the right-hand side. His near post cross was fired into the outside of the side-netting and behind for a goal kick.

Horsell had his fingers stung 20 minutes into the second period from a Baille free kick, but he was never seriously troubled.

In a half of few chances, it looked increasingly likely that a solitary goal would win the game, and it came for The Bulls in the 80th minute.

Good play from the left-hand side resulted in a Jamie Bird cross to the far post, which was met by the left boot of Harry White, who fired the ball into the bottom corner, leaving ‘keeper Mason with no chance.
