Hereford FC opened their season with an away friendly v Pegasus Juniors at Old School Lane. The midday kickoff had been brought forward by 3 hours due to the England v Sweden game being played later in the afternoon.
Played in sweltering conditions, Hereford fielded a mixture of signed players and trialists, including goalkeeper Marko Radovanivic. The Australian Radovanovic, however, did not see much of the ball as Hereford were the stronger side throughout.
First-half goals through Harry White and Jamie Bird (x2) were balanced with goals from Smith and Symons in the second with Hereford running out comfortable winners 5-0. Former Westfields goalkeeper Matt Gwynne thwarted Hereford throughout the game and pulled off some good reaction saves to keep the score down.
The next friendly is at Cirencester on Tuesday night where Beadle will run the rule over the trialists and decided whether to keep them or carry on looking.
